Interactive and Playful

Swiss Design from Zurich University of the Arts
瑞士多媒體互動設計展

What can design offer in a world that is volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous?

Under the title «Interactive and Playful — Swiss Design from Zurich University of the Arts», the exhibition presented at Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) offered an opportunity for reflection and mutual exchange. The Department of Design from Zurich University of the Arts provided a hypothesis for a new understanding of design that could be experienced playfully and interactively, contrary to the common formula of the established design of mostly aesthetically exaggerated analogue artefacts.

The colourful setting of the exhibition reflects the cityscape of Hong Kong, its bright sceneries, letterings and urban screens. The scenography expresses this vibrant feeling in a calm and contemplative atmosphere. The displays are long and narrow, simulating the local architecture. Design is presented in the exhibition as a sensorial experience. Hereby the design practice and the related research breaks through the physical limits of objects and spaces to address emotions and senses beyond the visible and tangible. The visitors are invited to immerse in this setting and take time to discover something new — be curious about the different approaches and get involved with the exhibits.
